KMSPCC Supports Youth Engagement for Sustainable Oceans
Kiribati Marine Spatial Planning Coordinating Committee (KMSPCC) met with Tungaru Youth Action for their first Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting for the Kiribati Youth Engagement in Ocean Management project.
During the meeting, TYA delivered their presentation highlighting KYEOM initiative and its role in empowering young people to actively participate in ocean stewardship across Kiribati. Activities as presented will include training young people on seagrass, mangrove and coral restoration projects, strengthening ecosystem resilience while building leadership and project management skills among outer island youths.
KMSPCC will be working closely with TYA to contribute to the promotion of sustainable management and conservation of marine resources, while supporting the objectives of KYEOM to empower the youth of Kiribati as the next generation of leaders in ocean conservation and sustainable development.
This initiative is supported by funding from the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), enabling Tungaru Youth Action to deliver the youth component of the Cab-SMART program, and strengthen youth and gender inclusion in ocean management.
