On Saturday, 3rd October 2026, Honourable Minister Ribanataake Tiwau of the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MFOR) proudly represented H.E Te Beretitenti of Kiribati at the 48th Independence Day celebration of Tuvalu, hosted by the Kirivalu community in Tarawa. In his remarks, Minister Tiwau reflected on the enduring bond between our nations:

"Tuvalu is our brother and sister: our peoples, our cultures, and our histories have long been closely connected. Today, we celebrate not just your independence, but your remarkable achievements along this journey. Kiribati stands with you, always."

The MFOR extends its sincere appreciation to H.E Te Beretitenti for giving HM MFOR Ribanataake and his delegation, the opportunity to represent him and the Government, in this momentous occasion, underscoring Kiribati's deep friendship with Tuvalu.
