Staff from the Oceanic Fisheries Division (OFD), Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MFOR), took part in a TUFMAN2 refresher workshop and R software training facilitated by the Pacific Community (SPC) from 12–16 October 2026.
The TUFMAN2 refresher covered key database modules essential for data quality checks, tracking vessels' missing logsheets, data entry, and reporting — building OFD data officers' skills in processing, verifying, and analysing fisheries datasets.
The R software component complements similar trainings requested by PNA countries, helping data officers improve the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of data that supports better-informed decision-making for sustainable tuna management at the national level.
On behalf of the Ministry, OFD acknowledges the value of these in-country trainings and appreciates SPC's ongoing support and assistance.
