On Friday, 4 September 2026, a consultation on the proposed Kiribati Purse Seine Fishing Company was held at Ocean Family Restaurant, Bairiki, bringing together relevant stakeholders to discuss the findings of a feasibility study.
The feasibility study was undertaken by international consulting firm Prime Consultant, with Mr. Jerry Tengemoana serving as the lead consultant. The study examined the viability and potential of establishing a purse seine fishing company in Kiribati.
The event was officially opened by MFOR Secretary, Mr. Riibeta Abeta, followed by a presentation of the study findings and stakeholder discussions.
