Today, 22nd September 2026, the Kiritimati Fisheries Sub-Division carried out the donation of petfish operation materials to 6 petfish companies under the PROP Project, funded by the World Bank.

These companies successfully completed their training in 2025, facilitated by Being Yeeting — and today's handover marks the next step in putting that knowledge into action.

The donated materials include: Water quality test kits (pH & Ammonia), Reticulation pumps, Nets for harvesting marine aquarium fish species and much more.

These tools are vital in strengthening the capacity of our local petfish operators, helping them maintain high standards and improve their operations.

Marine aquarium fishery is a truly unique fishery — one that has contributed significantly to the economy of Kiribati and provided valuable employment opportunities for our local communities.
