Nanikaai Leads the Way in Ocean Protection with CBFM Enforcement Training

Nanikaai Leads the Way in Ocean Protection with CBFM Enforcement Training
From July 29–31, the Community-Based Fisheries Management (CBFM) Team, in collaboration with the Monitoring, Control, Surveillance & Enforcement (MCS&E) Unit of the Coastal Fisheries Division under the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MFOR), successfully delivered a Refresher Training on Basic Enforcement Skills to the Nanikaai community.
The 3-day training brought together 30 passionate participants, including community enforcement officers, youth leaders, and women’s groups from various churches. The training aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity in enforcing community bylaws, monitoring illegal fishing activities, resolving conflicts, and enhancing collaboration to protect Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
This training highlights the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to empower communities as key partners in sustainable fisheries management and ocean conservation.
